Climate in the Vinschgau region
Sunshine live! - in the truest sense of the word, the sun is doing overtime in the Vinschgau region while you enjoy your vacation. The Vinschgau region is one of the areas with the least precipitation in the Southern Alps. With nearly Mediterranean figures of little more than 400 mm of rain per year, this is too little to enable intensive agriculture without artificial irrigation. Earlier farmers put a great deal of effort into diverting the melting water from glaciers into water ditches and distributing it to their fields. Along the irrigation ditches, known as “Waale”, you’ll find the nicest flat hiking trails running along these routes on the sunny cliffs. Hiking tips can be found under
