Mostly dilapidated, the Lichtenberg castle ruins dominate high above Lichtenberg. The castle was owned by the Counts of Tirol from the start of the 13th Century until 1513. Up until today, the castle ruins in the Upper Venosta Valley, which are open to the public, are owned by the counts of Khuen-Belasi. The leisurely hike from Prad to the foot of the castle complex in the Venosta Valley attracts visitors due to its size and a magnificent cycle of frescos, most of which can be viewed in the Ferdinandeum Tyrolean State Museum.
